Review On Buffet Lunch @ Suki-Ya Hotpot Buffet (Kovan Heartland Mall)

It's Been Awhile Since I Last Blogged So, Why Not Blog About Food? Suki-Ya Is A Hot Pot Buffet Restaurant Which Also Comes With An Ala Carte Menu. My Overall Experience Was Slightly Disappointing.

From Above, As You Can See, This Is All That The Buffet Has To Offer. The Variety Is Really Really Pathetic. There Are No Desserts And Only 3 Types Of Fruits Served For Lunch Only. There Will Be Ice Cream Served However, For Dinner.

The Soup Base For The Hot Pot Comes In 5 Different Flavors. The Manager Was Kind Enough To Explain To Us What We Were Expecting For Each Flavor And Their Distinct Taste. We Chose Sukiyaki (Savory-Sweet Soy Sauce) And Batauiku (Pork Base Soup) And They Were Surprisingly Fragrant And Flavorful. The Sukiyaki Base Was However Slightly Too Salty But The Batauiku Was Simply Perfect. The Taste Wasn't Too Strong And It Lingers On Your Tongue.

These Are The Main Things They Serve For The Buffet. The 3 Different Types Of Meat: Pork, Chicken, Beef And Not To Forget The One And Only Type Of Fish Served: Salmon. They Were All Really Fresh. Taste Was Distinct And The Quality Was Definitely There. For Meat Lovers, This Is The Part Where It's Time To Spam Meat. NON-STOPPP!

Among The Other Food Offered, Those That Were Noteworthy Was The Cheeseballs, Cheese Toufu, Purple Cabbage, Mushrooms And Even Bamboo. They Had Other Varieties Of Vegetables As Well. Everything Served Was Generally Fresh And The Quality Was Definitely There.

Service In General Was Mediocre. In Fact, It Felt Like They Did Not Have Enough Staff Attending To The Customers, Maybe Because It's Weekday (Went On Monday). But The 'Special Service' Given By The Manager Was Indeed Impressive.

Another Thing To Note Is That Pricing Is A Single + Only. There Is Absolutely No Service Charge.

Monday - Thursday
 Lunch: $23.90+    Dinner: $29.90+

Friday - Sunday, Eve Of Public Holidays And Public Holidays.
Lunch: $25.90+     Dinner: $31.90+

If You Are An Insane Hot Pot And Meat Lover And You Feel Like You Could Eat Meat NON-STOP Throughout, This Is A Good Place To Try Out. However, If You Prefer A Wider Variety Of Food To Taste And Tryout As Well As Lovely Pastries To End It Off, Like Me, You'll Find This A Real Disappointment And I'll Suggest You Give This A Miss.

Have You Ever Wondered How Strangers See You?

This Has Been On My Mind For A Really Long Time.

I Never Really Understood Why People Would So Often Approach Me For Help. By People I Mean Strangers. And By Often I Mean At Least Once A Week. Which Brings Me To This Thought: How Do Strangers Actually See Me?

The Most Common, Would Be For Direction. Whether Is It At The Bus Stop Or Even In Campus, It Just Happened To Be Me. I Wasn't The Only One At The Bus Stop And I'm Sure There Are Many Other Students Around The Campus. It Just Happened To Be Me. Now Why Me? Almost All The Time I Have My Earpiece On, So I'm Sure They Chose To Ask Me And Not Anyone Else.

It's Obviously True That How We See Ourselves Aren't How Others Sees Us. And I Couldn't Imagine Myself As A Stranger Approaching Me For Directions. That Would Be Hilarious.

And Very So Often Do I See People Dropping Groceries Or Dropping Stacks Of Papers Or Even Coins Or Anything You Can Think Of And It Just Happened To Be Right In Front Of Me And Somehow I'll Always Manage To Help.

So, Is It Me Who Choose To Notice Small Little Things Like This, Or Does Everyone Really Encounter Such Situations So Often?

At The End Of The Day, Helping Others Makes The Society A Better Place To Live In. Even As The Saying Goes "What Goes Around, Comes Around" Ain't True, I Never Really Expected Anything In Return Because The Moment I Chose To Help Someone Was The Moment I Received Something Which Cannot Be Bought By Money. Something Deep.

But You Know What's Funny? Someone Whom I Haven't Seen Before Trust Me Enough To Ask Me For Help. My Friends Probably Won't.

Or Maybe I Don't Have Any Friends.

The Road To Success Is Filled With Failures.

At Times I Really Wondered, What's The Point Of Getting A Degree? Because All Day My Parents Are Just Nagging About Getting That Piece Of Paper. You Spend $$$ And 3-5 Years Of Your Life Getting A Piece Of Paper That Will Get You A Job And Most Probably You Will Lead An Average Life Just Like Any Other People Out There. Your Life Will Have No Ups, No Downs. I Wouldn't Consider That As Success Because Are You Telling Me That You Have Encountered Failure Along The Way? What Are The Lessons You Have Learnt Along The Way?

And Let's Say If You Spend This 3-5 Years Of Life Getting A Job And Maybe You Get Paid Let's Say Around $400 Lesser Than A Degree Holder Every Month. But You Have A Pay Advantage Of 48 Months (4 Years) On Average. A Diploma Holder Would Get A Pay Of Around $2,000 After Coming Out Of Army.

$2,000 x 48 Months = $96,000

$96,000 / $400 = 240 Months (20 Years)

This Excludes The Cost Of Getting A Degree As Well As Your Pay Rise Over The Years. No Doubt 10 Years Down The Road You'll Probably Be Earning $3,000 - $5,000 Per Month Depending On How Capable You Are But Nevertheless Even If You Are Earning $5,000 Per Month And A Diploma Probably $3,000, It Takes You Still 2 Years To Break-Even.

That Is What Most People Will Be Doing. For Their Whole Life. Work Under Someone. Get A Comfortable Pay. Probably 90% Of The People I Know Is Aiming For A Life Like That.

But My Thinking Is So Different. I Like To Explore. I Like To Be Creative. I Love To Try New Things. I Hate Working In An Enclosed Environment, Where There Are Rules To Adhere To Everywhere. And I've Learnt A Lot Along The Way. Maybe I'm Not The Master Of Any, But Have You Ever Thought, If I Could Someone Combine The Things I've Learnt Together And Create Something New? Wouldn't I Be The Master Of It? It's Definitely Easier Said Then Done Because This Is Just An Example I Used To Illustrate.

Taking On Life Is Like Taking On The Challenge To Fail And Not Give Up. While I Cannot Focus On Trying Out New Things In Life Because I Have Not Finished My Studies Yet At Least I Have Plans. I Mean How Cool Would It Be If I Could Set Up This Unique Restaurant Such That The Waiters Are Taught To Perform Magic To Entertain Customers? Or To Do Balloon Sculpturing To Entertain Kids. Again, Such Would Require Lots Of Innovation And The Capital As Well To Start-Up.

Nevertheless, Getting That Degree Seems To Be A Must Because My Parents Aren't Supportive. They Feel That They Should Be The Ones Paving The Way For Me. I'm Never Gonna Learn If That's The Case Because I'm Probably The Type Who Learns Better Through Failures. At Least The Pain Is Worth Remembering And It Serves As A Reminder Not To Make The Same Mistakes Again.

No One Says It's Going To Be Easy. But At Least I'm Willing To Try.
